Enemies of Saturn

Members:
Miko Sta. Romana- Vocals
Louis Isok- Guitar
Brian Mendoza- Bass
Fred Sison- Drums
Genra:Rock
Record Label:Pop-No-Comply Records (Indie)

Biography
Since its inception in 2008, Enemies of Saturn has been carving out its spot in the local independent music scene. Miko Sta. Romana (vocals), Louis Isok (guitars), Brian Mendoza (bass) and Fred Sison (drums) have built a solid reputation for delivering astonishingly tight performances, leaving attendees wanting more of EOS’ brand of sexually charged, Hard Rock.

Their first single, “Bigayan”, was a hit on legendary rock station NU 107. Soon after, underground hit “Mushroom Stamp” was released on Kerplunk! Studios Defiant sampler. Online music channel Splintr.com also took notice and made Enemies of Saturn their Artist of the Month; documenting the band’s sheer talent in 4 live performance videos.

The second single, “Unlearn”, was released in July of 2010. This went on to chart on rock FM stations NU 107 and UR 105.9, while enjoying regular airplay as well on Jam 88.3. After another year of recording and blazing a trail in premiere bar productions, music festivals, and major events, the band’s efforts finally came into fruition when they released their eponymous debut album “EOS” online, in September of 2010. An online single ‘Senses’ was immediately put up for free download.

Gearing up to release their physical album in February of 2011, Enemies of Saturn stays committed to spread their music beyond the local stage and raising existing musical standards.

Andy Bell-Guitar/Bass/Back-up Vox
Chris Sharrock-Drums

Biography

Beady Eye was formed by the other three core members of the 1999-2009 incarnation of Oasis, namely singer Liam Gallagher, guitarist Gem Archer, and bassist Andy Bell,[1] who switched back to guitar in Beady Eye, together with live drummer Chris Sharrock, who became a full time member of the new group.[2][3] Jeff Wootton and Matt Jones will perform live bass and keyboard duties.[4]
The band began writing and recording new material in November 2009,[5] and offered a preview of their upcoming album with the release of "Bring the Light", on 15 November 2010[6] as a free download. It charted at number sixty-one on the UK Singles Chart, topping the Indie and Rock charts.
A second promotional single, "Four Letter Word", was released on 26 December 2010 and was made available to listen to on that date on NME.com, with the band also featuring on the front page of that magazine's Christmas 2010 edition. "The Roller" was announced as the band's first commercial single and got its first airplay on Xfm Radio on 7 January 2011.
The band's first album, Different Gear, Still Speeding, recorded in London at RAK studios in autumn 2010 and produced by Steve Lillywhite, will be released on 28 February 2011.[2][7] The band will undertake a short promotional tour of the UK and Europe in March 2011, and will also be playing the Isle of Wight Festival in June 2011, where they will be special guests to the headline act Kasabian, and T in the Park.

Biography
Cold War Kids means International Blues. We began in August '04 with friends, jangly guitar, hand claps, and a Harmony amp in a storage room atop Mulberry Street restaurant in downtown Fullerton, CA. For the first practices, having instruments was secondary to
stomping and chanting; Clanging on heat pipes, thumping on plywood walls. Hollering into tape recorders. Slipping and swaying into alleyways and juke joints of yesteryear. Tapping in to the American dustbowl and British maritime. On the restaurants roof the sound and feeling was cultivated and burned, built and hallowed out, painted and stripped to the primer.

Almost three years have passed and we haven't let up since the starting gun fired. The album "Robbers & Cowards" was released in the US in October '06 on Downtown and the rest of the world in February '07 on V2. 'Why even have apartments?' We often ask ourselves as we have toured with the vim of a family reunion brawl across the US, UK, Europe, Australia and Japan.

Cold War Kids strive to make honest songs about human experience in orchards and hotel rooms, laundromats and churches, sea ports and school halls. We love the songs of Dylan, Nina Simone, and the Velvet Underground and make our own, which we like to think, are pretty original.

Bio

The brain and heart, two essential parts humanity cannot do without if we are to survive. ANHURA have taken this concept and extended it in their music, further exploring the marriage of thoughts and feelings. Inventing music not extremely based on theory but on feelings, experimentation/improvisation and experience. Through this vision, their music transcends boundaries and limitations, everything seems possible. Makes absolute sense since music is infinite and boundless. ANHURA’s music is a journey, and to where the destination will be is to each his/her own. Their music takes you on a ride and while your eyes are closed, your limitation will only be your own imagination. It’s a fusion of the diverse emotions that we, ourselves, embodied our lives with. The bliss and madness, the love and suffering, the rise and fall, the beauty and chaos—equilibrium. The name ANHURA based on the band's research comes from the Aramaic term that means "light" or "lunar light". They chose this name mainly because their songs reflect a certain aura, that of one’s search for the elusive light and its true meaning in life. The philosophy in general is that we are always in search for something in our life that would make us feel significant in this world. The vital something that would make us complete and fulfilled. ANHURA tends to express, address and manifest this through the music they create. The sound in general dwells but not limited to a mix of classical, folk, progressive built on a rock backbone. The vocal lines are powerful, ethereal and melodic with full of emotions complementing the message and the music itself. Listen, be a fragment and take flight.

 Biography
Good Morning High Fives began in August of 2008 with the intention of only being a "one time" band for a battle of the bands competition. This plan, however, obviously didn't work out too well for them because after the competition, they decided to keep playing music together. After countless numbers of gigs, 2 Cebu tours, 1 Bicol tour, a Singapore tour, and a couple of line up changes, The band is still hard at work writing and allowing their sound to evolve with them.

 Genre:New wave, Indie, Tweepop

Influences-Belle & Sebastian, Ivy, Camera Obscura, The Stone Roses, Teenage Fanclub, Popsicle, The Darling Buds, April Showers

 Record Label:Lilystars Records

          Biography

Even with a penchant for fine, new wave music, The Gentle Isolation thoughtfully shifted genres in 2009, making way for the indie pop sound that they are slowly becoming known for in the local independent music scene. Their new sound is reminiscent of Belle & Sebastian and Camera Obscura, but still with a trace of the Stone Roses and Echo & The Bunnymen thrown in for more character.

Having made their rounds in several bars and other venues in and out of Metro Manila, the band has busied itself with building a steady fan base, augmented by the rare privilege they enjoyed when they played as one of the front acts during Swedish indie pop duo, Club 8’s concert in Manila in May 2010. Proving that they are all ready and set for a wider audience, the band is preparing to release their debut EP in August 2010 under indie record label, Lilystars Records

Bio:

.. When fate and fine intentions cross paths, something wonderful must be on hand... and whoever said that good things are worth the wait must have envisioned Your Imaginary Friends lingering in the wings. Four years in the making before arriving at their current lineup, Emerald Aquino(bass) joined brothers Ahmad and Ed Tanji (vox/guitars and guitars respectively) and Eric Po (drummer) in March 2010 with a resolve to do their bit in the name of pop music. They have since been conquering varied audiences with their arresting brand of refreshing pop. Taking cues from the Pixies, The Smiths and Death Cab For Cutie, those who come to experience the band live wait with curiosity until the first line drops to reveal an eargasmic mash-up of the band’s influences—whether it’s their rendition of "Where Is My Mind” by Pixies or their original material, this quartet does not disappoint. With the lofty aspiration to save the world one pop song a day, it is not at all astonishing that Your Imaginary Friends is answering the call. Pop fans welcome the four-piece and their music with more than open arms and ears, putting them on the fast track to their purpose of resuscitating an industry already overwhelmed by insipid repetition. Due in September 2010 is the long awaited EP release in collaboration with Lilystars Records. Anticipating this is in the horizon, there is nothing to fear for the future of pop music.-http://www.myspace.com/yourimaginarymusic

Taking four years to make, Your Imaginary Friends began as an idea for an e-mail project by two of its members who were, back then, quite physically distant from each other. The band has come a long way since those days, and along with the relocations, several lineup changes, and later affiliation with indie record label, Lilystars, they have developed a distinct sound and musical quality, which is—as the band members themselves describe—of indie rock and new wave, dance and poetry, all combined to make a unique kind of pop.
Your Imaginary Friends was one of only three acts who opened the show in Metro Manila for Club 8, a world-renowned indie pop act from Sweden who very recently visited the Philippines as part of a tour. After this major break, the band continued with preparations for their first EP, due for release in September.

MALAY

Bio

A new band with an old soul composed of the trio of Alden Abaca (drums), Miguel Dayanghirang (bass and vocals) and Pochoy Labog (guitars and vocals). An innovative breakthrough in rock music, reminiscent of 90's grunge and alternative, infused with a diverse pool of genres, including soul, jazz, hiphop and the blues. The music finds its foundation on a dynamic pulse with a groove that is nothing short of visceral. Flowing through the rhythm is melody delivered with a strong but subtle intensity. The interlaced lyrics provoke thought and emotion that can stir any soul that wishes to listen.

Labog, formerly the frontman of the now defunct rap rock group, Dicta License, decided to keep his commitment to music and performing. Immediately after dicta’s break-up in 2007, he began rummaging for potential bandmates. The search was not without difficulty as auditions spanned for almost 2 years. Labog finally chose his first prospect and friend, Dayanghirang, formerly of Reklamo, who in turn, brought in Abaca, a colleague in the world of sessionists.

After less than a year of jamming, writing and touring in small productions, the trio has gathered a growing following. They are now poised to deliver their message on a bigger stage. One song after another. Leading to the release of their much anticipated full-length album early next year.

Reklamo

Members:
LC REKLAMO – Vocals & Guitars
Marco ROBOTO – Bass & back-up vocals
Ciro de Leon- Drums

Genre: Rock

Record Label:
Independent/BLASTER STUDIO

Biography:
It’s been over a year since the band started and getting serious with their career. With singles and videos out, and an album produced independently-thanks to CREATIVE Singapore, TOASTED shop, and brand new tie-up DRAVEN shoes. The three-piece all brother band of LC de Leon- guitar/vocals Marco de Leon- bass and Ciro de Leon- drums with then manager Amy Rosalyn has managed to put everything together for the band.

The album titled “BITCH FOR CHANGE” which album packaging is made out of denim twill has been regarded as one of the most uniquely designed albums. The band’s mentality of “DIY” or “do-it-yourself if no one will do it for you” mentality has been sufficiently progressive. “We go hands on with everything as in everything from mixing our songs to designing our album cover etc,” As said by front man LC de Leon.

The band greatly shares a lot of their frustrations, hate, and also their joys in writing their songs, most of which are all balled up as complaints (hence the name Reklamo)… for change! As the bands mantra exudes in all their songs. But regardless of everything that the band can complain about, REKLAMO is one of the easiest bands to work with.

The bands songs make hard hitting points socially and they intentionally stray away against political issues, songs that deal with traffic signs that run amok in our daily lives as their song “Lahat Bawal” goes- “No u turn! No left! No Right turn! No straight. And other songs that focus on the common man’s daily frustrations.

Reklamo is now more focused than ever to reach their goals and to try to spread the word that bitching isn’t all bad as long as you do something about it. “Bitch for change!” as the album title and with songs like “I Am My Own Bestfriend”, “Katas Ni Ungas”, and “I Hate Everybody”, the band is certainly going to hit some targets as these underdogs have their bite as strong as their bark.

Black Summer

Genre:Rock/Pop
                    Members
Allen - Vocals/ Guitars
Gboy - Bass/Backup Vocals
 Ian - Drums/ Backup Vocals
BLACK SUMMER is a three piece pop-alternative contemporary trio brewing a myriad of influences. It's all about taking a break from all the routine, just as brothers Allen & Ian, together with good friend Gboy, takes a break from their alternate working lives.
As musicians, they’ve all grown on different musical paths. Equally multi-instrument musicians the three have each developed their musical cores. Keyboards for Allen, drums for Gboy and guitar for Ian. After countless musical whirlwinds in search for something different, they figured the only way to move forward is grow out from one’s comfort zone. To do that, they each took on the challenge of carrying a different instrument but bringing with them the stems of their musical influences. Hence Allen’s textured and droney guitars, Gboy’s syncopated grooves on bass, and Ian’s steady rock ‘n roll beats.
As it is, they've all been around playing in various gigs, productions and concerts onseparate bands and occasions. This time they team up together as one after forging a publishing deal (in 2008), for a two single release with a record label.
To date, Black Summer comes out with music from a new mold finishing their recent singles independently.Whipped up with pop sensibilities to top, their flavor of contemporary pop & rock based music, let BLACK SUMMER uncover your restraints as they woo you inside out.

Gerard Lazo Munsayac, or “G-Boy” to friends and family, is the bass player for Sisah Salad. G-boy was part of a band called AllenWrench, a trio that played an eclectic mix of 80’s music and light alternative tunes. G-boy and Allen Wrench’s frontman Allen Alesna decided to re-group and formed JIG, a quartet which played mostly original compositions with pop-jazz undertones. JIG has released a music video of an original song, “Assuming”, which can be seen and downloaded over www.youtube.com. The group was also able to have two of their original songs included in the movie soundtrack of “Angels”, featuring popular actress Angel Locsin. He also played bass for Daylight, an alternative rock band that delivers a vast array of musical styles in which he shares the stage with Herson and Boski on drums and guitars, respectively.
On a more previous event, Gboy regroups with Allen and merged together with Darrell and Herson(Fusebox/Solace) in a ‘pop-metal’ band Brood of Moons. Though short lived, it paved the way for the current line-up of Black Summer.

Ian is one force to reckon with, a versatile musician, he started playing since high-school back in Cebu. Fronting for a band called SUGAR-BARF, he played melodic bass lines while singing.
As he got into college, his interest in drums got the attention of his brother Allen, and together they formed a band called BLACK SUMMER, a post grunge band. In some unfortunate turn of events, BLACK SUMMER couldn’t go on due to acedemic priorities. Ian moved forward to drumming for a pop-rock variety band GUILTY PARTY. After playing acoustic sets on side with his brother, they figured it was time to move forward with the music and got a bass player to form the trio YOUTHSKY. With some eight unreleased tracks, they go around playing original songs in Cebu with their brand of pop-funk. Four years later, bass player Ceasar had to leave the country for a while and the four year stint of YOUTHSKY had to be put to rest.
Ian then joins SUNDOWN CAFFEINE in 2004, then ZARAH SMITH BAND in 2005 as a lead guitarist. Three full years later he rejoins his brother to fill-up the beats in the current band that is Black Summer.

In the later part of 2004, just round about YOUTHSKY wrapped up, Allen meets Gboy Munsayac(Soup/Sisa Salad) incidentally in KAHAYAG(Cebu City), a venue where YOUTHSKY had its heydays . This encounter would start a long journey with the formation of ALLENWRENCH, with Sonny Lopez(Rockbato) on drums. The light alternative trio would be gigging in various bars around Metro Manila and even reaching Ilocos Norte for a concert as well as guesting on radio and other exposures. This continues on till 2006 when Allen and Gboy redesigns it to be a four piece band delving into pinoy-pop with jazz embellishments. This lineup would finish a music video prepped-up to promote an EP entitled ASSUMING. A five track album worked on by Allen & Gboy together with producer Barney Borja (Raffi Quijano, 3rd Angle, Chad Borja). Though it never saw a release, two songs from that EP would later come out in a motion picture inspired soundtrack album for the movie ANGELS (album distributed by SONY). After an unplanned pause of their working projects, Gboy and Allen would go on hiatus for almost two full years yet gigging sporadically on different occasions with drummer Sonny, yet also working on a project band called Brood of Moons with Daryl Villanueva and Herson Fremista(Fuseboxx/Solace). On a twist and turn of events, a ‘singles’ deal with DYNA MUSIC Phils. for the songs ‘Sanay Dumating’ & ‘Tonight’ retunes their vision in 2008. Completing the current line-up is Ian as drummer and rehashing the name BLACK

Scott Sellers, Taylor Albaugh, Jeremy Binion, Terry Stirling Jr

Genre:
Rock/Punk

Bio

Rufio is back and has delivered their best album ever. Anybody Out There, the new album from Rufio is available everywhere July 27, 2010. Big guitars, strong hooks, and infectious melodies all make this the album of all Rufio albums. .... The eastern suburbs of Los Angeles seem to sprawl to no end. But if one takes the 10 highway east enough they'll happen upon Rancho Cucamonga, a suburb only known to anyone as featured in the movie Next Friday. The members of Rufio grew up in this town and even after touring the world multiple times, they still call it home. .... Rufio, a melodic punk band birthed from the cauldron of mid & late 90s punk, emo, and the Internet, debuted on the scene in 2001 with their cult hit album, Perhaps, I Suppose..., which went on to sell over 140,000 copies worldwide. The boys hardly had time to finish high school before they were sent on tour with the likes of The Offspring, Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, and the Warped Tour. .... They developed as a band and released two more acclaimed albums in the years that followed through 2006. The band toured Europe, South America, Australia, and Asia all multiple times. Eventually different members of the band wanted to try new creative directions and explore new territory. Jon Berry started a new group called Runner Runner, and later left Rufio on good terms to pursue his new band full time. A friend of the band's, Taylor Albaugh, replaced him on bass. Terry Stirling has filled out the quattro on the drums, joining Scott Sellers as vocalist/ guitarist and Clark Domae on lead guitar..... .... The album was produced by the band, mixed by Jon Kaplan (Hollywood Undead, Jonas Bros) and Mastered by Gavin Lurssen (3x Grammy winnter). Currently recouperating from a highway road accident while on tour in Nevada, Rufio will spend the next year touring the USA and Canada with Strung Out, Australia with MEST, and headline Japan, Indonesia, and the US again. .. .
