Biography
Beady Eye was formed by the other three core members of the 1999-2009 incarnation of Oasis, namely singer Liam Gallagher, guitarist Gem Archer, and bassist Andy Bell,[1] who switched back to guitar in Beady Eye, together with live drummer Chris Sharrock, who became a full time member of the new group.[2][3] Jeff Wootton and Matt Jones will perform live bass and keyboard duties.[4]
The band began writing and recording new material in November 2009,[5] and offered a preview of their upcoming album with the release of "Bring the Light", on 15 November 2010[6] as a free download. It charted at number sixty-one on the UK Singles Chart, topping the Indie and Rock charts.
A second promotional single, "Four Letter Word", was released on 26 December 2010 and was made available to listen to on that date on NME.com, with the band also featuring on the front page of that magazine's Christmas 2010 edition. "The Roller" was announced as the band's first commercial single and got its first airplay on Xfm Radio on 7 January 2011.
The band's first album, Different Gear, Still Speeding, recorded in London at RAK studios in autumn 2010 and produced by Steve Lillywhite, will be released on 28 February 2011.[2][7] The band will undertake a short promotional tour of the UK and Europe in March 2011, and will also be playing the Isle of Wight Festival in June 2011, where they will be special guests to the headline act Kasabian, and T in the Park.
