Biography
Giniling
Festival traces its roots in U.P. Diliman, following the university’s
halllowed rock tradition of producing unique and remarkable acts. With a
distinct sound that fuses good old rock n’ roll, pop, alt-rock, and
bluesy heavy metal with a wry sense of humor, and with an explosive
stage presence and awesome band tightness, the group quickly gained a
cult following in the rock scene as a solid live act that combines
musical excellence with top-notch entertainment. With significant
exposure from high-profile gigs such as at the U.P. Fair and from media
appearances such as on MYX’s Bandarito and NU107’s In the Raw, their
fanbase continued to grow.
With their 2007 debut release under
renowed indie label Terno Recordings, the band continued to make an
impact in the Pinoy rock scene, resulting in even more high-profile gigs
(both in the metropolis and out of town) and greater media exposure
(TV, radio, and magazine appearances). Now, as the band prepares for its
sophomore release in 2009, with an ever-growing fanbase and an
ever-growing reputation as one of the country’s “must watch” young acts,
the band sets its sights on the mainstream—and aims to conquer it.
