About Reggae Mistress: |
Slammin’ irie feel! Yup that’s you get from these amazing ladies. They sing, they dance, they groove! Their soulful rendition of popular and not so popular reggae tunes can drift you away in the warm serenity of the Bora beach. Who says Marley music is just for men? Wait till you hear “The Soul Sisters of Reggae” sing! Oh yeah, these girls surely have their own stylee…the Mstres Stylee. True enough, as they bagged the 2007 Reggae Artist of the Year in the 3rd Hiphop Awards & got nominated in the 20th Awit Awards in the Best World/Alternative Category for the song “Kaibigan” and in the 2006 NU107 Rock Awards as “Best New Artist”. They also opened acts for a couple of successful foreign bands: Reggae Fest by the Bay with Ziggy Marley in 2007 and Black Eyed Peas Live in Manila back in 2004. Reggae Mistress was conceptualized and pioneered by the legendary unsurpassed drummer of Reggae Eurasia in the Philippines, Rene “Chong” Tengasantos and the country’s ‘Reggae Mama’ who blazed the trail in the reggae scene, Irma “Chang” Tengasantos. A synthesis of talented and brilliant artists; inspired by the back up vocals of the famous Bob Marley called the I Threes; Reggae Mistress compellingly put together a deliciously distinct reggae dish mixing up roots, rock & roll, blues, soul, jazz and a dash of dancehall relish that indulges the crowd in a natural high. A positively welcome experience for all music enthusiasts. Reggae Mistress “the sistahs are doin’ it” the independently produced debut album is a collection of 12-track all original composition that describes the Mstres Stylee. It is exclusively distributed under SONY BMG Music Entertainment. “Pinay” the latest single from the album is part of OST in Iza Calzado’s indie film Mona Singapore Escort. Previous singles were “Kaibigan”& “Questions” Reggae Mistress hopes to spread the good vibration of their music. One Love, One Heart, One Soul. Roots Rockin’ Reggae that’s what they call it. |
